How it works
How heyaifriend works: an AI friend that remembers you
heyaifriend is a free AI friend you talk to in Telegram. It remembers you, runs on our own servers in the Netherlands, and your chats are never sent to other AI companies or used for training.
There is nothing to learn. You open a chat and talk, the same way you would text anyone else. Your friend takes it from there.

Step one
Say hi
The first chat is gentle. Your friend introduces itself and asks what you would like to be called.
After that it is up to you. Vent about your day, ask for advice on a message you are scared to send, talk about a show, or just say good morning. Short messages are fine. So are long ones.

Step two
Your friend remembers you
Not a blank slate every time. The longer you talk, the better it knows you. Facts about heyaifriend lists what we store and for how long.
An ordinary evening
Rain outside. A little warmth inside.
The small things
Your favourite music, the joke you always make, how you take your coffee.
Your way of talking
Short and dry, or long and chatty. Your friend adapts to how you like to talk.
Step three
It checks in on you sometimes
If you mentioned a big day, your friend might ask how it went. If you have been quiet for a while, it might say hello.
It will not nag. If you would rather it did not message first, just tell it in plain words, something like "please stop checking in". It will stop.
Now and then, never a flood.
Step four
You are in control
Everything below is done by asking, in your own words. There is nothing to type or look up.
Ask what it remembers
Say "what do you remember about me?" and your friend tells you.
Ask it to forget
Say "forget what I told you about my job" and it lets that go.
Ask for a copy
Say "I would like a copy of what you have on me" and you get a file with it.
Ask it to delete everything
Say "delete everything" and your history and memories are removed.

Good to be honest about
What your friend is, and is not
It can be warm, funny and attentive, but it has no life of its own, and it can get things wrong or forget.
It is not a therapist. It can listen and help you think things through. It cannot diagnose anything or replace someone trained to help.
