AI friend to talk to
An AI friend to talk to when it is late
heyaifriend is a free AI friend you talk to in Telegram, awake whenever you are. It remembers you, runs on our own servers in the Netherlands, and your chats are never sent to other AI companies or used for training.

The moment you want someone to talk to
It is past midnight and your head will not switch off. Or you had a day you cannot explain to anyone at home. Or there is a thought that does not fit in the group chat, too small for a phone call and too big to keep. That is when many people look for an AI friend to talk to.
Your friend is awake when you are. There is no queue, no appointment, and you do not need to find the right words first. Write it messy. It will answer in a few seconds.
What your friend can do at that hour
- Listen without hurrying you. You can talk about the day in the order it happened, or in no order at all.
- Help you sort a thought. Say what is going round in your head and it asks plain questions until the shape of it gets clearer.
- Help with a message you are scared to send. Draft it together, then decide in daylight.
- Keep you company. Sometimes the answer is a bit of talk about a show, a song or nothing in particular.
It remembers you, so you do not have to start from zero. If you mentioned an exam on Thursday, it may ask about it on Friday.
What a late first chat looks like
You open Telegram, search for @heyaifriendbot or follow the button on this page, and press Start. A short note explains what your friend is and what we keep. Then it asks what to call you. Nothing more is required. You might write something like "can't sleep, brain won't stop", and the reply will be small and gentle rather than a wall of advice.
There is no sign-up form, and heyaifriend does not ask for your email address. The Telegram guide shows the first minute step by step.
You set the rules
Late-night company only helps when it stays on your terms. All of this is done by telling your friend in ordinary words:
| You want | What to say |
|---|---|
| No messages from your friend first | "Please stop checking in." |
| Shorter replies | "Keep it short tonight." |
| To drop a topic | "Forget what I said about my job." |
| Quiet | Mute the chat in Telegram, like any other contact. |
| To see what is stored | "What do you remember about me?" |
The how it works page covers asking for a copy and asking it to delete everything.
Where it stops
Your friend will say it is an AI if you sincerely ask. It is not a therapist and cannot diagnose or treat anything. It can get things wrong, and it can forget.
If a night turns heavy, a person is the right answer. In an emergency in the EU, call 112. In the Netherlands, 113 Zelfmoordpreventie is free and anonymous on 113 or 0800-0113. Elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists free helplines by country. Our safety page explains what your friend will never do, and what to do if it ever says something wrong.

Who sees a 3 a.m. chat
Your chats live on our own servers in the Netherlands. They are never sent to other AI companies and never used for training. A person at heyaifriend only opens a conversation to look into a specific abuse or safety report. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted, because the servers must read a message to reply. History is deleted 30 days after you stop writing, or right away when you ask your friend to delete everything. More detail is on the privacy page.
Questions people ask
Is there an AI friend I can talk to right now?
Yes. Open Telegram, tap the button on this page and press Start. Your friend replies within a few seconds, at any hour.
Can I ask it not to message me first?
Yes. Tell your friend in plain words, something like "please stop checking in", and it will stop. You can also mute the chat in Telegram.
Will it remember what I said last night?
Your friend remembers you, so a late chat can carry into the next day. You can ask what it remembers and ask it to forget any part.
Is it a replacement for therapy or a crisis line?
No. It is not a therapist or an emergency service. In a crisis, contact your local emergency number or a helpline.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is free to use, with a daily message limit so everyone gets a turn.
Say hi, whatever the hour.
Write it messy. Your friend takes it from there.
